Tamang Heritage Trail Overview

Tamang Heritage Trail will give you the best introduction about trekking in Nepal across a few beautiful sceneries countrywide in combination with rich Tamang culture. According to geography, Tamang Heritage Trail lies at the northern area of the Kathmandu Valley and hence, it is the most accessible region to perform trek in Nepal. The trek lets you to view a few beautiful sceneries consisting of thick forests, terraced green farmlands, and high mountain peaks belonging to the Langtang Himalayan region close to the border of Tibet. Moreover, bonus feature of the trek is that it allows you to trek via Tamang villages.

Several years ago, there was a fight between Nepal and Tibet for salt, while Langtang Region is one of the biggest areas, where the war had taken place and because of this, the trail is the third most popular across the country. This area has close connection with Tibet, while traders use the trails of this region to barter in salt and changra (meat) of mountain goats, along with various foodstuffs from south region. Because of this, most of the people of this region are Tibetans of Kerung area in Tibet, located at the border of both countries, while settled in Nepal. Traditions and cultures followed by these people are more or similar to the people of Tibet staying at the border of two countries.

Tibetan culture, traditional architecture, festivals, costumes, Tamang rituals and local Syabru dances make the culture of these people unique. Along with this, you will find a point named Golijung Pass, from where you will enjoy awe-inspiring views of both Kerung and Langtang.
