Children’s' (Orphanage) Program

Each year, hundreds of children leave their destitute villages to find work in Nepal's crowded cities. Most of these children deprived of education end working as child laborers in restaurants, factories, and hotels. These disadvantaged children need attention, love, care, and the opportunity for education.

The Orphanage Volunteer Project in Nepal offers the street children the support and devotion they deserve. Volunteers teach basic English and other subjects such as math and science to these eager learners. As a volunteer, you also organize tours, games, drawings, singing, dancing, painting and other activities that the children enjoy and also learn something at the same time. Volunteers may help the children prepare for school, and help with their homework.

Volunteering in Nepal Orphanage Project is an enriching and life changing experience for our volunteers as well as the children. Many of our former volunteers have reported that this project, in particular, has been memorable and fulfilling, and has changed the way they view the world.

In this program volunteers will be placed in children’s home located at Naya Bazaar (Children Environment of Nepal) within a one and 20 Minute walking from Central Thamel. CEN has volunteer opportunities available.. Volunteers have the opportunity to participate in a variety of educational and community aid programs. This will give you a chance to make an important contribution to the people of Nepal and while doing so gain an in depth experience of the country and its culture that will stay with you the rest of your life.

Project skills required:

No specific skills and qualifications are required to volunteer in the project. However, you must be at least 18 years of old. Volunteers should also be flexible, practical, self-motivated and open mind to learn new culture.

Project Location:

Kathmandu: Kathmandu is the capital city of Nepal. It’s also known as the city of temples. You can find more than half a dozen ancient historical places and World Heritage Sites in Kathmandu. The orphanages are located in and around Kathmandu. Each orphanage accommodates between 20 and 30 underprivileged children.

Arrangement of room/food/supervision

RCDP-Nepal manages your entire accommodation, food and supervision during your stay. You will stay either with a host family or in home base. In the homebase, you’ll share room with other volunteers and use communal toilets. You’ll be served 3 meals a day. Meals in the homebase can be local or continental. In the host family, you’ll have a room for yourself and will be served 3 local meals a day. Staying with a host family provides you with a wonderful opportunity to experience Nepali lifestyle. You can even learn to cook Nepali food. Our staffs will visit you every two weeks. During the visit, we will check on your progress and make sure you’re satisfied.
